Ruta Locura was founded in 2011 by Josh Leavitt, as a spin off from Titanium Goat(Founded 2004). Josh was a founding partner at Titanium Goat with his father DJ, who passed away in 2019. DJ and Josh had been building gear their entire lives. DJ was building packs and climbing gear(cams, pitons, ice axes, ice screws, etc.) in the garage since the early 1980s, while Josh helped and sewed his own tents and packs. Josh would go on to build climbing holds and climbing gym products in the 1990s, while employed as a firearms engineer.
In the late 1990s before Titanium Goat, Josh and DJ worked together building a climbing gym for a climbing buddy and business partner.
Ruta Locura products are currently being updated. This is an ongoing process. Operations are being moved to Georgia, with a goal of having this done by 2027.
Why Georgia? Titanium Goat was shut down by a Utah Judge when DJ passed. Josh was ordered to stop building Titanium Goat products, while hundreds of thousands of dollars were seized. No reasons were given for the seizures, or the order to cease production of Titanium Goat products by Josh. The Judge to this day, has refused to respond to every inquiry by Josh for relief and return of his property.
While Utah is one of the most beautiful places on Earth, it is run by the nastiest un-American communists.
After several years of dealing with poor health, exacerbated by the legal conditions of living in Utah, Josh has found someone to operate Ruta Locura in Georgia. More information will be forthcoming as things evolve.
